ASSIST AMERICA CASE FILE: Broken Arm in Mexico

7/9/2014
Farah* traveled from Dubai to Yucatan, Mexico to visit clients. While she was driving to one of her appointments, she was in a motor vehicle accident. Her arm was in a great deal of pain, so she was taken to the emergency room and then called Assist America for help...

Assist America contacted the treating doctor at the hospital who confirmed that Farah had indeed fractured her arm. He was able to reduce the fracture without surgery and then immobilize it. She was given anti-inflammatory medication to reduce swelling and medicine to help with the pain.

Assist America monitored her condition even after she left the hospital. It was recommended she begin physical therapy for the arm and remain in Mexico for two weeks before flying home due to the length of the flight. Once she was considered fit to fly, Assist America arranged and paid for her to fly home via commercial carrier with a non-medical escort to assist with anything she needed during the trip.
