ASSIST AMERICA CASE FILE: Pneumonia and Sepsis in Georgia

8/8/2014
Roy* was visiting his son in Decatur, GA. While getting ready to explore the town, however, he began to vomit blood. His son took Roy to a local hospital, and then called Assist America on his behalf.

Assist America immediately began monitoring Roy’s care. After a series of tests, it was determined that Roy was suffering from complications of pneumonia and sepsis. Under intensive care, his condition gradually began to improve. Once he was discharged, however, he was concerned about having the strength to make the journey home to Pennsylvania. Assist America stepped in, providing a medical escort to travel alongside Roy, providing oxygen as necessary and monitoring his breathing as the plane shifted altitudes. Roy was thrilled to once again enjoy the comforts of home, and thankful for the help Assist America provided.
