—Assist America, the global emergency services company based in Princeton, N.J., is now using Microsoft® Tag technology to enhance its product and communication support for clients and members. Microsoft Tag creates barcode hyperlinks within the real-world environment, allowing one-touch access to websites, phone numbers, contact information and more.
The tag reader is available via free download to anyone with a smart phone. Users who install the free tag reader application then use their phone’s camera button to scan barcodes and activate their contents. Assist America is using the technology to add a new level of convenience to communications with clients and members, making videos, documents and other information easily accessible.
Assist America is inaugurating use of Microsoft Tag in a series of advertisements appearing in the online publication Insurance Newscast in the month of November. The ads, which bring to a close the company’s twentieth anniversary advertising campaign, will feature a tag linked to a video testimonial from Apollo 13 astronaut Captain James Lovell, who was featured in the year-long marketing effort.
“Our company has always been a technology and product development pioneer in the assistance industry, and everything we innovate is with our customers in mind,” said George W. Howard, III, President and Chief Executive Officer of Assist America. “This barcode technology is an exciting resource with untapped potential in our business. We look forward to harnessing it in every way we can to support our clients and members."
Microsoft Tag is compatible with iPhone, Android, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile. For more information about Microsoft Tag technology, or to download the reader application, visit http://gettag.mobi from a mobile phone, or http://tag.microsoft.com from a computer.
