Police have confirmed that at least nine people were killed and more than 50 injured when an unidentified individual drove a truck into a Christmas market in the Breitscheidplatz area of western Berlin around 2000 Dec. 19. Authorities have said they suspect that the incident may have been a deliberate attack. Officials have not provided any information as to the driver's identity or his motivation. Unconfirmed reports indicate police apprehended the driver, who reportedly fled the scene after the incident.
