6.8 Magnitude Earthquake Rocks Morocco
Around 6:11pm EST on Friday, September 8th, Morocco experienced its deadliest earthquake since 1960. The epicenter of the quake originated in the High Atlas mountain range and was felt as far north as Casablaca. Marrakech and communities at the base of the mountain range were the most severely impacted, suffering extreme damage and with an escalating death toll of over 2,000 people. International aid and recovery efforts are ongoing.
