Wildfire containment efforts continue in Los Angeles County, California as arid conditions persist as of January 14th. Over 12,300 structures have been destroyed, with 24 fatalities reported and 23 individuals still missing. Evacuation orders have affected more than 92,000 people, with anticipated warnings for an additional 89,000.
Three significant fires have affected the region. The Palisades Fire has scorched over 23,000 acres of land, the Eaton Fire has burned 14,000 acres, and while nearly contained, the Hurst Fire has burned almost 800 acres. Conditions remain hazardous, and power outages persist in fire-threatened areas. Red flag warnings are in place until Jan. 15, and residents are urged to stay indoors due to poor air quality. Emergency shelters and resources are available to assist displaced residents.
