Earthquake Shakes Türkiye

A series of earthquakes occurred in the Sea of Marmara on April 23rd, including a magnitude-6.2 tremor that struck near Silivri, Istanbul Province. The quake was widely felt in Istanbul and surrounding regions, prompting building evacuations and precautionary checks. Multiple aftershocks, including two magnitude-5.0 quakes, have been recorded throughout the day.

Currently, there are over 230 confirmed injuries and 378 reports of structural damage, but emergency services are continuing to conduct assessments. Public officials have advised caution and are encouraging residents to remain outside of buildings unless they are structurally sound. Preliminary inspections of transportation infrastructure have not revealed any significant damage, and operations are continuing normally.
