Gas Shortage Leads to Ghana Power Outages
A drop in electricity generation caused by gas shortages have lead to a 550 megawatt gap at peak time, accounting for 10% of the country’s generation capacity. The shortage, cited as a delivery issue rather than supply, comes on the tails of the West African Gas Pipeline Company's pipeline being taken out of service. Commercial and communications disruptions are possible in the areas affected by outages, including the functionality of traffic lights and other essential facilities such as ATMs and filling stations.
