Heathrow Airport Closed Following Power Outage

A fire at a power substation in West London on March 20 has led to widespread outages, forcing Heathrow Airport (LHR) to close. More than 1,350 flights have been canceled or delayed, disrupting travel plans for thousands. While power has been restored to Terminal 3, Terminal 5 is operating on generators, and Terminals 2 and 4 remain without electricity. Some flights may resume at Terminals 3 and 5, but no official confirmation has been given.

Authorities urge travelers to avoid the airport and check with their airlines for further updates. Over 120 incoming flights have been rerouted to airports such as Gatwick (LGW), Manchester (MAN), and Birmingham (BHX). Airlines including British Airways, Ryanair, and Virgin Atlantic have issued rebooking options and emergency flights to assist affected passengers.
