More than seven million people have already passed though airline checkpoints, according to data supplied by the Transportation Security Administration. On the tails of the 45,000 cancellations from last summer’s travel season, the Department of Transportation has reported that the first three months of 2023 has yielded a cancellation rate of below 2% for U.S. airlines, which offsets the anticipated weekend surge. TSA has also reported the onboarding of more staff this year to decrease the risk of potential delays, as many airlines have reduced summer flying at the request of the Federal Aviation Administration.
