Philippines DOH Releases Walking Pneumonia Alert
The Department of Health in the Philippines has released an advisory for Mycoplasma Pneumoniae, or ‘Walking Pneumonia’. While only a few confirmed cases have been reported, the Department of Health encourages the public to maintain good hygienic practices, such as hand washing, and to wear masks, especially for those susceptible to illness. While walking pneumonia is a bacterial infection that most commonly affects children, it is potentially transmissible to anyone and may be treated with a course of antibiotics as prescribed by a doctor.
