Severe Weather Forecast in South Florida

Authorities have declared an emergency for southern Florida where severe weather is anticipated to persist through June 15th. Prolonged excessive rainfall is expected, with over 7 inches precipitation likely. Fort Lauderdale City and Miami-Dade County have declared local states of emergency. Flood watches and warnings are in effect across southern Florida.

Heavy rainfall has caused the cancellation of more than 320 flights at Miami International Airport (MIA) and over 280 flights at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL). All southbound lanes on part of Interstate 95 in Broward County, from Oakland Park Boulevard to Griffin Road in Dania Beach, are closed due to flooding, with traffic being diverted. Brightline train services between Miami and Aventura and Tri-Rail services between Metrorail Transfer and Miami Central stations are suspended.
