Tropical Depression Pulasan approaches the Yellow Sea

Tropical Depression Pulasan is currently tracking across Jiangsu Province and made landfall on September 19th over Shanghai and Zhejiang Province. Strong winds and heavy rainfall are forecasted across regions of eastern China and southern Korea, with evacuation orders already in place for more than 112,000 people. Major disruptions are expected, including suspensions of rail and ferry services, port closures and flight delays at regional airports.

A blue typhoon warning has also been issued, with 10-15 cm (4-6 inches) of rain on the way. Forecast models anticipate that Pulasan will strengthen back into a tropical storm as it moves north into the Yellow Sea late September 20th. It will maintain its strength as it arrives in southern Korea late in the morning of September 21st before transitioning into a post-tropical cyclone as it reaches the Sea of Japan and approaches the Oki Islands.
