Tropical Storm Bheki Sweeps Over Indian Ocean
Severe Tropical Storm Bheki is moving southwest across the Indian Ocean towards the Mascarene Islands on November 19th. The storm is expected to lose some intensity as it passes north of Rodrigues Islands, early November 20th and then weaken into a moderate tropical storm as it passes just south of Mauritius main island early November 21st. Weather advisories have been put into place for strong winds, heavy rainfall totals, and increasingly rough seas as the system approaches the islands in the coming days.
Cyclone warnings have been issued by the Mauritius Meteorological Service as of November 19th, with Rodrigues Island under a Class Three alert and Mauritius Island under a Class One alert. Transportation and road networks may be further impacted, and localized business and utility disruptions are likely.
