Tropical Storm Shanshan Impacting Western Japan
Tropical Storm Shanshan is moving northeast across the Seto Inland Sea and is expected to make landfall in Yamaguchi Prefecture on Aug. 30th, with further impacts in Ehime Prefecture on Aug. 31st. The storm has already caused widespread disruptions, including power outages affecting over 140,000 households and significant travel disruptions, such as suspended Shinkansen services and thousands of flight cancellations.
Stay alert as the storm progresses, especially if you’re in western or central Japan. Flooding and landslides are possible, and authorities may issue more warnings or evacuations. Public transportation and road networks may be further impacted, and localized business and utility disruptions are likely.
