Rail Lines Impeded Ahead of Olympics
Investigations are underway after suspected sabotage has seized France’s national rail network, resulting in major delays. Line services running to Lille, Strasbourg, Tours, and Le Mans have been affected, as well as services within Paris and the Eurostar line to London. Additional security has been deployed in an effort to remediate the situation.
Over 800,000 travelers have already been impacted, with major congestion at key stations like Montparnasse and Gare du Nord. As the Paris Summer Olympic Games are on the horizon, pressure to complete repairs quickly mounts. Reports estimate that this may take several days given the widespread nature of this event.
