Weakened Cyclone Kirrily Continues on Trajectory Through Queensland
After battering the Australian northeastern coast with punishing 105mph winds and heavy rain, the former Category 1 cyclone has downgraded to a tropical storm as its path inland continues. The storm has left thousands without power since making landfall, felling trees and leaving behind a trail of damage in its wake, though no deaths or serious injuries have been reported. A severe weather warning remains in place for residents of Queensland, as the storm is expected to continue to lash the area with sustained high winds and an anticipated 7.9 inches of rain.
